CAPSULE LARGE FLOWERS by SIXSOEURS
Fabriqué à Paris.
AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS BIG FLOWER CAPSULE COLLECTION, THERE'S A MAN'S CLOSET.
This Big Flowers capsule collection is the story of a love at first sight. Having given pride of place to stripes and checks in the latest collection, we were eager to explore new strong prints. But what could be as strong as tile? Which print could stick to the Sixsoeurs style and evoke both spring and summer?
My husband's Hawaiian shirts.
When I opened my husband's closet, it was a no-brainer. I came across his collection of Hawaiian shirts. More than a dozen ! This boy is obsessive ! What if we were meant to get along. The couple from the Big Flower Capsules...
Two of them caught my eye. They are bicoloured with very large flowers that occupy half of the fabric.
MY SECRETS FOR PICKING THESE GREAT FLOWERS
So I designed similar patterns by replacing the large tropical flowers, a little too "surfy" for my taste, by more classical flowers such as roses, freesias, statice etc..
Three florists kept coming back to my memory, the super trendy Debeaulieu, the dazzling Racine and my neighbourhood florist Ipoméa, whose shop is a sweet mix of outdated souvenirs and very current trends.
During a family week in Normandy, I also returned to a place that I cherished, the woods of Moutiers in Varengeville, the town of my childhood. A real English manor, surrounded by a superb English garden, designed by the very famous Miss Gertrude JEKYLL. Well, the name's a little scary, but it makes no mistake, the lady was extremely talented. It's a spectacle, century-old trees, small paths that take you between magnificent flower beds, which rise up on lovely bushes. And then lots and lots of Big Flowers.
Unfortunately for those who don’t know the park, it has just been purchased by the Seydoux family and is no longer open to the public since this fall.
Paradoxically, if the question of a capsule collection had never been considered until then, I was becoming really obsessed with Big Flowers, I needed a floral print for the upcoming collection. While I was working on the final lines of a print template, I did a review of my suppliers to make sure I didn't miss a marvel that would surpass what I had in mind. I saw it bicoloured, the flower had to be in the centre, no question of colours going in all directions...
WITH SUCH AN ALIGNMENT OF PLANETS, THE CAPSULE COLLECTION IS A MUST...
It is with one of our suppliers we work with on each collection that I found the pearl. This French house from the Rhône region has been working in accordance with the rules of art for 2 centuries in the service of the textile industry. It is produced in France and has recently been using up to 30% organic materials.
After designing the LUNA dress, a casual long dress with the look of a big bohemian shirt, I decided to decline this fabric in a big flower capsule. The Flavie jumpsuit, then the Meryl shirt and the Billie top, the capsule collection Grandes Fleurs de Sixsoeurs was born.
